Amazon announces EC2

Amazon just put the Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) into limited beta. EC2 which is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers.

It will be interesting to see how this stacks up against Sun’s grid, especially since Sun has the upper hand on providing computing infrastructure.
