Humane executions
Friday, September 29, 2006 at 03:43PM California debates whether its executions are humane enough to be allowed under the US constitution.
Is it just me or is this unbelievably bizarre? How can an execution ever be humane? How can this penalty be dished out in a humane way at all?
And, even if you believe in the penalty, what does it matter if it hurts — is the guy going to be thankful for not dying in pain?
It just doesn’t make sense.
Wait, it can get even more bizarre. I heard on the radio yesterday that a veterinarian refused to use on animals the sedation used at human executions on the principle that it wasn’t humane. Gasp! e
