Screenplays

Here are some original screenplays that I work on. I’m reworking “Never too old” below into a novel.

Never too old to be young

“Sometimes, to find out who you really are, you have to pretend to be someone else.”

Have you ever wished you were someone else? Maybe someone younger… better looking… or smarter? In Never Too Old To Be Young, Morton, an insecure CPA in his forties, doesn’t have much going on. He’s going bald, he’s been fired from his job, and his best friend is his sister, Betty.

But after a humiliating interview at Groove Records, Morton decides to turn things around — in an unusual way. He comes back to Grove the next day as a handsome 23-year-old hot-shot named “Kevin” — who thanks to Betty’s efforts has a head full of hair and, of course, a youthful-looking face.

In hilarious fashion, Morton lands a new job as an assistant and soon gets a lot more than he bargained for. He quickly learns about an embezzlement ring at Groove, forges a new friendship a with record executive, and finds romance with a beautiful colleague named Carmen, who, like Morton, has a big secret of her own.

A little bit Mrs. Doubtfire, a little bit Tootsie, Never Too Old To Be Young is a funny and charming tale about finding out who you really are — by pretending to be someone else.

Radio Free San Francisco

“By sneak attack, attacker forces invade and occupy San Francisco, holding half a million people hostage. A young hacker and his WW II veteran grandpa together depend on each other’s skills to coordinate the fight to reclaim the City by the Bay.”

U.S. Defenses are down and out. The young hacker realizes he alone knows why and how this attack happened, and what has to be done. He must atone with his grandpa to get the message out to the liberating forces.

He must also figure out how to deal with his long lost father, who suddenly shows up on the attackers side.

Death Valley

“Revenge. Fortune. Love. What happens in Death Valley, stays in Death Valley.”

After twenty five years, Lynn finally gets an opportunity to avenge her dad’s murder, but things don’t always go exactly as planned in the desert.

Chased into the desert, she teams up with an geology researcher who is not as innocent as she thinks. Together they must fight for survival: the desert, their followers, and each other.

This noir-ish action/drama with a few measures of comedy and romance reached the semi-finals in Scriptapalooza 2004, and the finals in WriteMovies.com 2004.

(Note: This is low-budget script: no expensive shooting locations, no special effects, and a small cast. It also sports a strong female lead.)
